News and Events
Welcome to the Queen's Head, Hawkedon
The Queen’s Head is an award winning 15th Century Free House steeped in history from its origins as a former coaching inn at the heart of this Doomsday village to its present day role as one of Suffolk's few surviving proper country pubs. |
We offer a superb selection of cask conditioned ales, traditional ciders, a fine wine list and an excellent and imaginative seasonal menu, including produce from our own livestock and attached butchers shop. As a West Suffolk CAMRA Pub of the Year, The Queen is also featured in the Good Beer Guide, the Good Cider Guide and is a UKTV Local Food Hero. |

The Queen nestles off the beaten track on the Upper Green in the picturesque conservation village of Hawkedon, for many people the quintessential English village with church, timber framed cottages, manor farm and pub all surrounding the village green. |
The pub itself remains full of unique character and charm gloriously unaffected by the ravages of time, with low timbered ceilings, flagstone floors, scrubbed pine tables and various curios set against inglenook fireplaces sporting blazing log fires. The atmosphere is relaxed with a lively local ambience. |
Located in the heart of Suffolk’s rural countryside the Hawkedon Queen is close to the wool towns of Long Melford, Cavendish and Clare and is only a short drive from historic Bury St Edmunds and the National Trust’s idyllic Ickworth Park. Cambridge, Lavenham and Newmarket are all within driving distance. |
